Ruth T. Kelley Cole Life Change Scholarship

The Women and Minorities in Engineering Program at Oregon State University is pleased to announce a new scholarship designed to assist women who are making a career change and becoming  an engineer at OSU. The $6,000 scholarship is designed to help alleviate the financial burden of returning to school.

Eligibility

  • Female student enrolled as an undergraduate at the College of Engineering fall 2008

  • Preference will be given to women transferring to Oregon State University from a Community College, or to women returning to college after an extended period of non-enrollment.

Application

Applications are due May 1, 2008 and must include the following:

  • Application form: Ruth T. Kelley Cole Scholarship Application Form

  • Transcripts: Copy of applicant’s transcripts showing grades for the last full year of current or prior college enrollment.

  • Letter of Reference from a professional source such as an employer, teacher, or other community/professional organization.

Evaluation and Award

Women working toward an undergraduate degree in engineering are eligible. Preference will be given to students who are transferring from a community college, are older than 25, or are returning to school after a period of absence. The applicant’s motivation, leadership potential, and ability to follow projects through to completion will heavily influence award selection. Special consideration will be given to those with unique circumstances. Directed students with positive attitudes are encouraged to apply.
