Policy for Waiver of the Engineering Resource Fee
Last revised: July 2009.
Under exceptional circumstances, the Engineering Resource Fee can be waived. Essential information and a link to the petition form are given below.
Help for students with significant financial need is addressed by a separate financial assistance program.
Who should pay the fee?
College of Engineering graduate students enrolled in College of Engineering courses are required to pay the fee.
In addition to courses offered by the College of Engineering, College of Engineering graduate students are required to pay the fee for terms in which they are registered in course(s) required by their degree program.
Required courses include all blanket numbered courses completed by the student up to and including the term in which students pass their final examination. Courses completed in other colleges as part of a required minor are also required courses.
Who will be considered for a waiver? Note that “partial” waivers are not granted.
Your waiver will be considered if you can answer “no” to all of the questions show below.
1. Are any of the courses for which I am registered offered by the College of Engineering?
2. Are any of the courses for which I am registered used to satisfy the requirements of my degree?
3. Are any of the courses for which I am registered used to satisfy the requirements of a minor/option required as part of my degree?
If you answered “no” to all questions, then fill out a petition and submit it prior to Friday of the second week of the current term. If you answered “yes” to any question, then you are not eligible for a waiver.
Note that petitions will not be accepted for previous terms.
How do I complete a waiver petition?
