Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam is the first step to getting your professional engineering license. You need to pass this exam in order to be eligible for the Professional Engineering (PE) Exam. The Exam itself is an eight-hour test split into two sections: Morning and Afternoon. The morning portion of test consists of general engineering questions in; Engineering Statistics, Economics, Electricity & Magnetism, Chemistry, Ethics, Fluid Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Mathematics, Statics & Dynamics, Computers, Material Properties. During the afternoon portion of the test examinees may choose to take a general test or a discipline- specific test (depending on major).
The FE Exam is a substantial asset to list on a resume. It demonstrates a level of technical proficiency that the others competing for the same job might not have. You will also be eligible for many public or private jobs for which you might not otherwise be eligible. Most students take the examination immediately prior to graduating while the material is still fresh in mind.
