An Astronaut Comes Home.

Spend An Afternoon With Space Shuttle Astronaut Donald Pettit

The College of Engineering at Oregon State University is pleased to announce a free, public event featuring one of our most distinguished alumni, NASA astronaut Donald Pettit.

A 1978 graduate of OSU's Dept. of Chemical Engineering, Pettit spent almost six months aboard the International Space Station, returning to Earth last May aboard the tiny Russian Soyuz spacecraft known as the Space Station's "life raft."

On October 30th, Pettit, returns to his alma mater to discuss what it's like to orbit the Earth at 17,000 miles per hour 200 miles above its surface,

and what it takes to become a NASA astronaut.

Come help us welcome Donald Pettit back to Earth, back to his native Oregon, and back to his alma mater, Oregon State University, where he earned an engineering degree that helped him soar into space...and back!

Thursday, October 30, 2003, 3:30 p.m.
