Application packet due October 30, 1009. - - - due date extended to 11/12/2009 - - - = = = = = = = = The City of Albany, Oregon is interested in hiring a paid intern from the Civil and Construction Engineering Program at Oregon State University. The City is in the midst of a two- year project involving earthquake preparedness. As part of this project, we have identified numerous buildings within our City limits for which we want to collect data. We have created a form to be filled out which contains all the data element fields we wish to collect. These fields include: building structure type, chimney anchored, earthquake design code, foundation type, mechanical bracing, etc. The City will provide training. Initially, we would like the intern to create an Access program to use for entering the data. The individual we select will be given a laptop with a database of addresses representing the buildings to be surveyed. The individual will then drive to the buildings and enter the information gathered from just observation. Some fields on the form may already be filled in if we already have that information on record with the City. ? The pay will be $15 per hour, plus expenses. ? The job will commence January 4, 2010. ? The job will last for one year or until the work is completed, whichever comes first. ? We will be flexible about your schedule during Winter and Spring quarters but expect you to work full time during the summer. ? We are interested in a student who is in their Junior year of credits. ? The City cannot purchase a car just for this project so a requirement of the job is that the individual use his/her own car, and the City will reimburse the person $.55 per mile. ? Although the expectation for dress is casual, since this individual is representing the City and is in public view, there is a requirement that clothing be tasteful. ? As a temporary City employee, before being hired, the individual will go through a DMV check, background check and criminal check. Upon satisfactory completion of the work, the City will draft a letter on City stationary documenting the internship and what the person did. Our timeframe is to interview candidates during November, announce our selection in the first week of December, and the person will start January 4, 2010. If you are interested, on or before Monday, October 30, 2009, please provide the following to Jan Strombeck, 220 Owen Hall: ? Your resume ?
