MS Office 2007 (Excel, Powerpoint, Word): Auto-save in 'Compatibility Mode'

Compatibility Mode - A mode where MS Office 2007 (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) files save in a format compatible with previous versions of Office.
To be more specific, they save in the old extension format (.xls, .doc, .ppt).

Follow these steps to setup your Excel, Powerpoint, & Word to auto-save in compatibility mode.

**Note: Although Excel is shown in the pictures below, the process is the same for all three programs (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).

1.

Open the program you wish to setup, you'll notice a circular Office Button in the upper left corner. Click on that and a menu should drop down, at the bottom of the menu is a button called Excel/Powerpoint/Word Options. Click it.
2.

An Options dialog box should have came up. On the left side of the dialog you should see a list of options. Click on Save under the list. Some settings should appear on the right after that. Where it says Save files in this format:, select the option that relates to 97-2003.

  Excel: Excel 97-2003 workbook (*.xls)
  Word: Word 97-2003 document (*.doc)
  Powerpoint: Powerpoint Presentation 97-2003

Click OK, and you're done!
