Outage: Email service slow to respond

Since Thursday 10/8, there have been issues with slow or inaccessible email from the Engineering system (this does not affect those using Exchange). Symptoms include not being able to open mail folders, failure to copy sent mail and possibly slow access to your home directory.

We are still trying to determine the root cause. We are planning to make some changes that we hope will fix the problem, but that may not happen until Tuesday or Wednesday and may require an outage.

In the meantime, we are trying to find some short term solutions and will post any additional information here.
