More than 25,000 new engineers have graduated from Oregon State University. Our alumni have gone on to make a vast range of contributions to the world---from teaching, inventing, and working for large and small organizations and companies, to founding their own firms.

Linus Pauling is the only person to win two unshared Nobel Prizes. Jen-Hsun Huang founded nVIDIA Corporation, the world's largest maker of graphics processing units. Donald Pettit and William Oefelein are both NASA astronauts. Douglas Engelbart's visionary thinking lead to development of the computer mouse, e-mail, hypertext, and video conferencing. Debra Walt Johnson is the College of Engineering's first Rhodes Scholar and has returned to her alma mater to teach a new generation of budding engineers. Jon DeVaan, a senior vice president at Microsoft, led the teams that developed Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and other products. Jeff Peace is the vice president and general manager of Boeing's 747 Program. John Young is retired CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company. Tim Leatherman founded Leatherman Tool Group, Inc. and invented the world-famous multi-tool that bears his name.

The list could go on for pages. The past accomplishments by our people are remarkable. And the promise for even greater contributions in the future is very bright. We are proud of all our people, their ideas, and the innovation they have given the world.

Many Oregon State Engineering alumni have been recognized for their contributions with Oregon Stater Awards.
