Work-Ready Graduates

At OSU Engineering, we want our graduates to be able to hit the ground running the minute they enter the job market. Because we know the companies that hire them want the same thing.

That’s why we develop hands-on Platforms for Learning™ that complement and expand on classroom teaching. We instill the people and communication skills needed to succeed in the team-oriented workplaces of today. And we bring in seasoned industry executives to teach students what the business world will be expecting of them starting Day One.

We also offer our students the opportunity to participate in two, 6-month paid internships, where they not only do real-world engineering work at real companies, but also earn an average of $40,000 for the two internships.

These internships can be used to meet up to one year of the State of Oregon’s four-year work experience requirements for obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license, provided all "work experience" requirements are met. (See Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying - Division 10 Licensing Administrative Rule 820-010-0230). Obtaining a PE license after three years of employment instead of four is good for our graduates, and good for the companies that hire them.

This is why we call new OSU Engineers "work-ready.” Because they truly are.
