Dreamers Welcome Here: The People of OSU Engineering

Engineers are all too often stereotyped as number-crunchers who toil alone in cramped offices and laboratories working with complex equations and calculators. In fact, most of the women and men who become engineers do so because they want to do meaningful work that will help make the world a better place.

At Oregon State Engineering, we believe engineers are people who touch lives. Look around. Everywhere are things that have been engineered--from medical instruments that save the lives of babies born prematurely to every single part of a Boeing 747 aircraft. From software that is easier to use, to rivers that are flowing at rates more favorable to endangered species of salmon, to bridges and buildings that are safer for humans--engineers have a hand in shaping the world for the better.

We believe in the "people" aspect of engineering--our students who are becoming engineers because they want to help the world; our faculty, staff, and researchers who work with these students because they are inspired to teach and help discover solutions to complex problems; our alumni who have become practicing engineers and are doing good things in their careers.

We also believe engineers are dreamers, people who come up with creative, new ideas and are inspired to turn these ideas into reality. Our faculty dream up innovative new ways (like TekBots™) to teach our students, so our students can dream up new ways to engineer a better future.

As we build a top-25 engineering program, we are attracting more and more top people to our program. These people are who make us great.

We're always looking for extraordinary men and women to join our team. We want dreamers on our faculty. We want students who are driven to dream a better tomorrow, today. We want our graduates to enter the world armed with ideas and dreams, as well as the engineering expertise to turn these dreams and ideas into real-world results.

We want you.
